Why is the price personal to you?

In everyday speech it's also called an "ear device" or a "hearing device" — they all mean the same thing. A hearing aid isn't an off-the-shelf product. The power needed is set by the degree of your hearing loss, your ear mould is made to your own scan, and the device is programmed to your own hearing curve.

That's why the amount varies from person to person. After your free hearing test, we work out the right device for you together and tell you the exact amount right there. There's no obligation to buy; you can take the amount away and think it over. Besides the price, we've written about what else you should check on a separate page.

What determines the price?

• The degree of your hearing loss

  Mild loss and profound loss don't need the same power. As the power needed goes up, the device's hardware changes too.

• The device's technology level

  Every family comes in several levels. Higher levels manage noise in more detail; this difference matters less for someone who lives in a quiet home, and more for someone who works in a crowd.

• One ear or both

  If both your ears have loss, two devices are recommended; telling where sound comes from depends on it.

• The device's form

  Behind-the-ear, receiver-in-canal and custom in-the-ear models are made differently.

• Ear mould

  The mould is custom-made for you. With us it's made in our own lab and is included in the device price.

• Your SGK contribution

  If you're insured, the contribution is deducted directly from the invoice. It varies by age and insurance status.

SGK contribution

If you're insured — employed, retired or through a spouse, it doesn't matter — SGK covers part of the device's price. Because we're an affiliated centre, the contribution is deducted directly from your invoice; you only pay the remaining difference, and we settle up with the institution. SGK is Turkish social security; if you're not covered by it, you pay the device price directly.

  Set according to your test result.

• Custom ear mould

  Made in our own lab.

• Adjustment and check-ups

  We handle your device's adjustment and check-ups. Some of these services are free; if a fee applies, we tell you the amount before the work starts.

• Routine care and cleaning

  Done at our branches; if a fee applies, we tell you before the work starts.

So after buying the device, you don't need to wonder "will I pay for every adjustment".

What's the difference between a cheaper and a more expensive device?

The difference isn't in how loud the sound is, it's in how it manages noise. An entry-level device works perfectly well in a quiet room. In a crowded restaurant, or a setting with several people talking, higher levels separate speech from the background better.

So the right question isn't "which one's cheap", it's "which settings in my day do I struggle in". For someone living in a quiet home, the extra paid for a higher level may not pay off; for someone in crowds every day, it does. We discuss this together after your test.

Which brands' devices do we offer?

ReSound, Widex, Signia and Rexton We're an authorised dealer for ReSound, Widex, Rexton and Signia. All four have behind-the-ear, receiver-in-canal and custom in-the-ear forms; every family comes in several technology levels.

Which brand's which model suits you becomes clear after the test — we start with your hearing curve, not a brand choice. We've written up the models and specs separately for each brand.

Whichever device you choose, what's included in the price is the same: the test, programming the device to your hearing, the ear mould we make in our own lab, and adjusting the device. How SGK support works is something we've explained on a separate page.

What to watch for when comparing prices

• Ask what the price covers

  Is adjustment and care included, is the mould included — this varies from centre to centre.

• Ask whether they're SGK-affiliated

  If they're not, you'll have to chase the contribution yourself.

• Don't trust a figure given without a test

  An amount quoted without knowing your loss is a guess.

• Find out who looks after you afterwards

  A device isn't a one-time purchase; the need for adjustment lasts for years.
